The curriculum on this website aspires to embody bell hooks’ notions of education as the practice of freedom. All of our teachers share these beautifully articulated beliefs. “Learning is a place where paradise can be created…In that field of possibility we have the opportunity to labor for freedom, to demand of ourselves and our comrades, an openness of mind and heart that allows us to face reality even as we collectively imagine ways to move beyond boundaries, to transgress. This is education as the practice of freedom “[1] In my own life as a feminist and a pacifist, I strive to embody the ethical practice of female authority wherever I am. Much of my work with women is about strengthening this practice. My two great teachers, Joyce and John Weir , passed their Self-differentiation practice on to me and their daughter ,Wendy Weir, when they retired. I strive to make their best practices accessible to all through each program I teach. Bowing to my teachers, I offer this work in the service of the good of the whole.
